Last night was the opening night for the play “Much Ado About Nothing”. This was put on by the folks at the Mystic Players Revival. After a long hiatus, Margaret Petrella took up the torch to gather a new group of actors. After months of hard work, the players realized the payoff with last nights performance. This free event was very well attended.

What makes this production of Shakespeare’s play special was the hours of work, coordination and the dedication that goes into putting into a performance of this stature. Nobody got paid for this performance, although the value to the residents of Medford is immeasurable. There was a demand for plays, whether its free or not. There was well over 100 people who showed up last night. What a night it was, the weather could not have been more perfect, the stars clearly aligned for this event.

This post will be updated again later this evening but it must be noted one of the most impressive feats of the night belonged to the stage manager (on the right with the book). The play went off like clock work, everyone knew where they needed to be, the props on stage were not out of place. Without this coordination, events like this will fall apart and quickly. There was never that fear. As of 9:30am this morning, tonight’s show is still scheduled as the forecast for rain will end roughly at 4:30. A blanket may not be enough, if you can bring your folding chairs that would be your best bet. This play was a rousing success and I cannot wait for their future productions.
