Congratulations to all the independent candidates who made it past the primaries. The above speak volumes about the missteps that our revolution have made. Their choices to not engage the residents around zoning may have ultimately cost them the elections in November and while the mayor enjoys running unopposed this election cycle, this should serve as a wake up call for her.

Is it arrogance, indifference or something else? What was missing at the polls on Tuesday was our revolution. Every single independent candidate were at every polling site as well as their supporters. Nobody from our revolution were in attendance, why?

Gotta Know Medford posted an interview with Rick Caraviello regarding the zoning issue and is certainly worth the read – https://www.gottaknowmedford.com/caraviello-weve-touched-the-third-rail-of-medford-politics/

Unfortunately of the candidates that did not make the cut, it was certainly Medford’s loss. Schiapelli, McDonald and Buldini would have represented the city of Medford well. Each one of these ladies had the city’s interests at heart and they genuinely cared about the city which is why they ran in the first place. Some of us are better off for having met them.

Now we focus on the general elections. The stakes are high because there is much to consider in the upcoming years. Medford is at a crossroads. The current city council can continue to pass non-binding ‘feel good’ resolutions or start making tough impactful resolutions that actually benefit the city of Medford.

Dr. Lisa Kingsley is one candidate running for the School Committee, if you have not had the luxury of meeting her in person, do so. Incredibly intelligent, understands the educational system not only here in Medford but has a global understanding of the education system in general. In some respects she shouldn’t be wasting time sitting on the committee as much as she should be Medfords superindendent. A visionary with a plan.
