This is the quickest three days hands down. The book and bake sale opened up on Friday to SRO. There were lines that reached at least 50 feet for book dealers waiting to take part of the book sale. While the book sale is limited to members only, each book dealer waiting to come in were all members and this process has been in place for quite some time. Gone, hopefully, are the days of the actual fist fighting, gnashing of teeth and crying.
This was the largest sale of the season, the next one in December will be smaller and a one day event. Despite going up against 4 other major book sales, the Medford sale stands above the rest. One fortunate person found a first edition copy of a Harry Potter book, which was sold to her for $1.50. Also among the finds were the almost complete collection of Stephen King books, cds from the Beatles (Rubber Soul and Revolver which some say are the best albums released by the Beatles). Books on cds, puzzles, games, dvds and baked goods! The money raised for this event all goes back in to the library to help pay for subscriptions and databases for the residents of Medford and the Public Library. This is especially important given these fiscally tight times. If you missed this round, not to worry this event happens three times a year. For now, you’ll have to live vicariously through these photos.
