Yesterday the West Medford Community Center played host to the Reece Pike Trio. It was SRO as not only was the turnout amazing but there were plenty of musicians rotating throughout the afternoon.

Musicians from far and wide showed up and brought their “real” books and instruments. The event is free, however if you have a few dollars, your donations help keep these events alive! The roots for this jam extend way back to the days of Johnny D’s in Davis Square, Somerville! That place is still missed today. Friends remember talking about how they used to spend Sunday brunch at Johnny’s and had their minds blown the first time they discovered you can have steak AND eggs for breakfast. The booker for the club also did a phenomenal job of bringing in national acts. While those days are gone and the clubs who helped keep those fun times alive are also gone, the West Medford Community Center will keep this one aspect alive. This event was a lot of fun and while we cannot post all the pictures of the event, we will be posting what we can.
