Yes! Medford Open Studios will return this year. This event has a long storied history that originated in West Medford 25 years ago! The event took a break last year while the original planners transitioned this over to the ACM. Laura Bereton, director of planning for CACHE made the following announcment:
“We are excited to announce that Medford Open Studios (formerly known as West Medford Open Studios) is scheduled for Saturday, June 20th, and for the first time ever will be a city-wide event! Arts Collaborative Medford (with help from some of the CACHE folks) is organizing this new iteration of Open Studios, and we are thrilled to be working together to make this a strong and inclusive artist-centered event. “
However, with the gain of the Medford Open Studios comes the suspension of the Circle The Square Event. Again from Laura:
“Circle the Square will be on hiatus for 2026. We assure you that we have every intention of resuming this wonderful community event in 2027, with fresh ideas and improvements! The Mystic River Celebration, which is in late September, is continuing as planned for 2026. You can continue to stay up-to-date on arts events throughout the city by subscribing to the CACHE arts calendar. “
The reasons for the changes above is because over the past year, CACHE, the ACM and Arts Medford have been in negotiations to merge into one entity. There are many reasons for this, among them is simply survival. As finances are harder to come by it made sense to merge. There is also a lot of overlap in what these groups provide. Either way the residents of Medford benefit from this merger. There are a lot of talented people under one roof and the expectation will be high once the merger has completed. These are exciting times!
