Thots?

Wrapping up an eventful week. This past Friday, Jonathan Fagan and the Medford Jazz Festival board members have graced Medford with freeform jazz over the last couple of months. This event is certainly gaining significant crowds. This goes back to late last year where, with the help of Terry Carter, they hosted an event at the West Medford Community Center. It has been SRO ever since. Last Friday this event was held at the Danish Pastry House at Hillside Medford. Owners Dirken and Tracy have been wonderful hosts and the MJF board looks forward to future events held at the Danish Pastry House. This place has such a great vibe that is not only inviting but also attracts all kinds of folks in and around Medford.

Food, coffee and Real/Fake books!

There were easily 15 musicians rotating throughout the night as they played jazz standards. It gave each person a chance to play ‘live’. Jazz night has never had an accordian player before, that all changed along with a vocal duet. The set performed has a very European flair to the night. Events like this are the best of Medford.

From the December show

Among some of the notables to this event was former city council candidate Nick Guirleo, Nick has been doing some really important work as a citizen reporting on the events at City Hall. If you are not following him on facebook, you should consider doing so, there is a lot that Medford residents are missing out on. Very much more coming from Nick in the coming months. Also in the crowd was of course Terry Carter. We are working to get him on to Medford Happenings around April or May. I can’t believe we’re already scheduled that far out!
